I love this shop. Brian and Liz are great, they keep my main bike (which Brian built up, a New Albion) in tip top shape. Brian has great suggestions for parts when I get some weird project idea. They have wheel building classes and bag making classes, both of which were excellent. Of course, can’t get through a review without mentioning the star of the shop, Tater. Best damn shop dog around.

Brian did an amazing job on restoring and customizing a late-80s mountain bike for use as a commuter. This was the bike I've wanted for years, but could never find "new" at a reasonable price. They did a great job at finding out what type of bike I was looking for, matching me to an available used bike in stock, and completing the build on a very tight schedule. The bike rides beautifully and looks fantastic.

If you are into fiber arts and/or bicycles, I definitely recommend checking out these guys. I was visiting the Chicago area earlier this year and was looking to find a local yarn store. They had a great selection of yarn and notions. Everyone was very welcoming. I purchased their Puppyman sock yarn, and it knitted up into a beautiful pair of socks. The colorway pictured is "Tater's collar #2". The yarn is also available on their website if you are not in the area. It's definitely worth a tri...

The Cog Cycles and Yarns are always spinning at 3217 West Bryn Mawr in Chicago’s Hollywood Park neighborhood. The small shop is filled with new and reconditioned bikes put together by the affable shop owners, Liz and Brian. Both of them work on bikes, usually while you wait, and do a great job. Recently, I brought my bike in to fix a flat and Liz found that I also had a broken spoke. She replaced the spoke, trued the wheel, and asked Brian to double-check it. I also brought my son’s bike in t...

I recently visited Cog Cycles and Yarns, and I can't recommend it highly enough! The atmosphere in the shop is welcoming and friendly, making it a joy to browse. Brian and Liz are exceptional; they are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and easygoing. Their expertise and willingness to assist make the shopping experience outstanding. The shop is also home to Tater, their lovable dog, who adds an extra touch of charm to the place. If you're in the market for a bike or j...
